Another disaster on the cards

MALAYSIAN bowlers are in danger of another unsuccessful outing in a world meet.
After returning empty-handed from the 2008 Men’s World Championships and 2009 Women’s World Championships, the bowlers are heading for another disastrous outing in the ongoing World Youth Championships in Helsinki, Finland.
All hopes are on the girls’ team, led by Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman and Sin Li Jane, to return from Helsinki with medals but both have yet to prove their mettle in the tournament.
Neither got a good start in the singles on Sunday and were also miserable in the doubles on Tuesday.
Siti Safiyah Amirah and Fatin Syazliana Adi Nasution finished 17th with a combined total of 2,375 while Li Jane-Jacqueline Jenelee Sijori ended up six rungs below on 2,340.
Colombia’s Laura Fonnegra-Maria Jose Rodriguez beat Singapore’s Daphne Tan-New Hui Fen 481-473 to win the gold medal. South Korea’s Kim Yeon Ju-Kim Moon Jeong and Singapore’s Shayna Ng-Jazreel Tan, the losing semi-finalists, each took bronze medals.
The inexperienced boys team also performed badly in the singles on Monday.
Khoo Beng Khai was Malaysia’s best performer at 40th with a 1,235 series, followed by Aris Ardilla Santosoh (47th – 1,220), Syimir Abdul Razak (48th – 1,216) and Yusuf Abdul Raof (83rd – 1,130).
England’s Adam Cairns defeated Australian Sam Cooley 210-139 to nail the title while Korea’s Park Jung Woo and Canada’s Francois Lavoie were the bronze medallists.
Team manager Cheah Ban Cheng believes the girls will raise their game in today’s team event. “Our girls have a chance for a medal in the team event. I am confident we won’t return empty-handed from Helsinki,” said Ban Cheng in an e-mail yesterday.
“Frankly, we were unlucky in the girls’ singles and doubles. None could maintain their consistency throughout their games

Many people don’t understand

Many people don’t understand the difference between marketing and sales — even worse many don’t understand the relationship between the two. The Sales Department can’t really succeed without a well-focused and well-executed marketing strategy. And those responsible for the marketing effort can’t develop the best strategy without input from the sales function.
I like to think of the two the same way I think about a sports team. The marketing people are like the coach and the sales people are like the athletes. A coach comes to the team with lots of experience, usually a proven track record and knowledge of what works and what doesn’t. Of course all that history is with different athletes and in a different organization. The marketing manager usually has the same credentials and he or she must utilize that history to help make different products and different people in a different organization successful.
After evaluating what they have to work with good coaches and good marketing managers can devise a strategy that stands a reasonable chance of success.

THE London market kept its head above water yesterday ahead of results from major oil firms this week.
BP kicks off the UK’s third quarter results season tomorrow, before results from rival Royal Dutch Shell on Thursday.
The FTSE was up 14.8 points at 5257.3 by lunchtime as investor sentiment softened in the wake of Friday’s triple-digit loss for the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
And Wall Street looks set to inch upwards when it opens today, with the Dow Jones likely expected to start up 0.1 per cent.
In London the oil majors edged higher, helped by the buoyant price of crude, which although down slightly on the day remained close to last week’s 2009 high of 82 US dollars a barrel.
BP rose 7.2p to 572.2p — or just over 1 per cent — while Royal Dutch Shell added 12p to 1864.5p.
Pharmaceuticals company GlaxoSmithKline is also set to release its results this week.
The firm was broadly flat today, down 1p to 1235.5p.
One of the biggest falls in the top flight was posted by British Airways, which declined nearly four per cent or 7.8p, to 202p.
Lloyds Banking Group was the Footsie’s biggest faller, four per cent lower after another weekend of speculation about its possible avoidance of the government’s asset protection scheme.
Shares were down 4.07p to 92.16p after reports said the bank was on the brink of announcing a Pounds 12 billion rights issue.

This is due primarily to increased emphasis by both governments and car manufacturers on safety, including the standard use of air bags to reduce the number of severe injuries and deaths caused by front and side car-to-car collisions.
Sadly, the United States is one of the few nations where injuries and fatalities caused by cars have increased over this same period. Experts suggest that this has several causes, including an increased number of motorists overall, a steady increase in the number of large trucks and SUVs sold, and a sharp rise in the numbers of people using cell phones and other technological gadgets while driving their cars.
Another common cause of car accident injuries is ?rubbernecking.? This is the term for slowing down (sometimes suddenly) to look at an unusual situation happening on the road (or nearby). Often, people do this to check out car accidents, which can cause other motorists farther back who are not paying close attention to fail to slow down or stop in time. Rubbernecking is the #1 cause of all rear-end car accidents and, in particular, whiplash injuries, in the United States.
Car accident prevention designed to reduce injury and fatality numbers focuses on technology and changing human behavior while behind the wheel.

They have powerful motors, wide running surfaces and are very quiet.
Disadvantages
The price is the only disadvantage I can see with these machines. I feel that $3000-$5000 is a lot to pay for a treadmill to be used at home. I believe the Precor name increases the purchase price and unless you are a dedicated runner, have money to spare or know you are going to be using the treadmill often then it might be more than you need.
Some people also say that it is too big. However I feel this is one of its benefits as it adds stability and a long, wide running surface.
Recommendation
Precor manufactures probably one of the highest quality treadmills in the market today, which they back up wholeheartedly as can be seen by the length of their warranties. So, I would recommend buying Precor treadmills but only if you could afford one. It is one of the best in the market right now but at the same time it is also one of the most expensive.

You can get stock books

You can get stock books that allow you to slip your stamps into tiny clear pockets. These are typically what the professional sellers use because they do not damage the stamps in any way. You can also purchase a stamp album where you actually mount the stamps to each page. This can take a little more time but the stamps look great once they are mounted.
Corner Mounts
When mounting your stamps, you will need an abundance of corner mounts. Some professionals like to use corner hinges instead. The choice is really up to each collector. These items are very inexpensive and typically come in packs of 1000 that can be bought for under $3 per pack.
Tongs
Tongs can be very important for stamp collecting. Most tongs are used when someone is trying to soak the paper off the back of a stamp.

They will be living together, working together and promoting their tattoo shop together.
A and E will also be debuting a new reality T.V. show called Inked. This show features a shop that recently opened up inside of a Casino in Las Vegas. It will be about the shop, the tattoo artists in the shop and also the customers who come to get tattooed. There are even some celebrities that will be coming in to get tattooed and that are rumored to be featured on the site.
So what does this mean for the industry? Has the end finally come and the whole industry has now been shot to you know what as the traditional tattoo artist would state? Or is this just all great for business and we should just pocket the money and run to the bank and not worry about the artistic value of the piece or even if the customer should really be getting a tattoo done or not?
Well, there are tons of opinions out there and already a lot of murmuring is starting in tattoo related chat rooms, bulleting boards, and websites.

Hence, a person who wants to stop drinking finds it difficult because of the withdrawal symptoms.
The signs and symptoms of withdrawal are the opposite of that of alcohol. In the central nervous system, excitory processes are increased and inhibitory processes are slowed. The withdrawal symptoms are the main barriers in treatment for alcoholism. Normally, withdrawal symptoms appear within hours of the patient?s drink and generally peak 24 to 36 hours after stopping.
Some withdrawal symptoms are anxiety, headache, auditory disturbances, trembling, sweating, and craving for alcohol. Delirium and tremors are a more severe reaction to withdrawal, occurring in five percent of people who have withdrawal symptoms 2 to 3 days after their last drink.

If you think, ‘it’s just an interview for a temp job — no big deal,’ that’s where you’re mistaken. Some wonderful opportunities, networking connections and careers have resulted from temporary positions.
Temporary assignments today run the gamut from receptionist to CEO and beyond. And since an agency is usually the first contact with the company, much of the marketing and negotiations have been done for you.
And if you believe ‘but the interview is set up and all I have to do is show up,’ you’re wrong again. The mind set you bring to that interview will make a big difference as to whether or not you get the job.
Most employers like to conduct interviews for temporary positions, even though they are slated only for a few weeks or months of service. They are particularly concerned about people in positions of higher responsibility.
